It seems that companies are valuing their assets higher as games are getting more realistic. but these guys have already produced Need For Speed Shift and Shift 2 - so you would assume that would count for something. Does anyone know why companies like SMS/WMD cannot get licenses? Is it because they have not provided any proof of concept with strong sales figures in the past that would entice some car and most track companies to give them a license? Or is it more because the track companies have non-compete clauses with other games that already have the licenses that were released beforehand? I'm just a little confused at why they couldn't get a hold of the licenses or even any laser scanned tracks for that matter.Ĭertainly, a previous relationship would help.
